CSA University Holds 27th Convocation: 63 Medals and 649 Degrees Awarded

Kanpur — The 27th Convocation Ceremony of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSA), Kanpur, was held today at the university’s Kailash Bhavan Auditorium under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel.

In a grand ceremony, 63 medals and awards were presented to 49 meritorious students, while 649 graduates received their degrees. The toppers were conferred with Chancellor’s Gold Medals (14), University Silver Medals (14), University Bronze Medals (14), and 21 Sponsored Gold Medals. Several students were awarded multiple medals, adding to the celebration.

Governor Patel, accompanied by ICAR Director General Dr. M.L. Jat (Chief Guest), Minister of State for Agriculture, Education & Research Baldev Singh Aulakh (Special Guest), and CSA Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, felicitated the awardees. The medalists also posed for photographs with the Governor and dignitaries, capturing memorable moments of the day.

As part of the convocation, the Governor also distributed certificates, books, stationery, and bags to 13 winners from various competitions held in schools across Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Raebareli, and Fatehpur, along with chocolates to all participants. Five Anganwadi workers were felicitated with kits, while one received a special memento and certificate. Books from Raj Bhavan were also presented to the principal of Rawatpur Primary School and five books were handed over to the district administration.

Vice-Chancellor Singh presented the university’s progress report, highlighting new innovations in teaching, research, and extension. Dr. Jat, in his address, praised CSA for developing over 300 varieties of pulses, oilseeds, and food crops, calling its role in the Green Revolution “historic.” He urged scientists to focus on demand-driven research, climate-resilient crop varieties, and agricultural diversification, emphasizing self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds.

Governor Patel, while congratulating the graduates, uploaded all 649 degrees to DigiLocker, ensuring easy access for students. She stressed the need to improve university rankings through dedicated efforts by scientists, faculty, and students. She encouraged degree holders to practice organic and natural farming in their villages, promote millets (Shri Anna), and support cow-based sustainable agriculture to reduce input costs and double farmers’ income. She also highlighted the potential of initiatives like Drone Didis and Krishi Sakhis in enhancing farm productivity.

The Governor further called for innovation-driven contributions from young graduates, stating:

“Your innovations are the need of the nation today. Agriculture must move towards quality produce, sustainable practices, and climate resilience.”

The event also witnessed the release of books authored by CSA scientists. It was attended by MLAs Surendra Maithani, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Neelima Katiyar, senior district officials, board members, deans, directors, heads of departments, faculty, and students. The program was conducted by Dr. Vinita Singh.
